Quagmire On footpaths.

You may think that these tyre tracks came from a motor bike, think again, they are too deep and wide. They could only have come from a tractor or large land vehicle.

Several feet away from the deep mud and ruts, you can see that the rest of the pathway is getting damaged and is becoming dangerous to walk on.

Whilst a little farther up the path there is no sign of the damage. Incidentally this is how the path normally looks - serviceable and firm.

You can find additional photographs on the Welbeck 2008 web page.

Bank Erosion At Bow Spring Bridge.

This photograph was taken from the left side of the Bow Spring Bridge, at the bottom right hand side of the photograph there is a slab of concrete collapsing down the river bank and heading towards the river.

  •        What has it broken away from?
  •        What did it do?
  •        Where will it end up?
  •        Is the bridge safe?

You can see how close to the footings of the bridge the bank has collapsed.

This erosion of the river Calder bank just underneath the Welbeck Toxic Tip is not new, it has happened before and it will keep on happening with disastrous regularity.

The next two photographs come from the RATS archive and were taken in January 2005, and were manually date marked. Remember the days before digital cameras.

The river bank has become undercut from the flow of water, the slippage of the river bank landed in the water - eventually getting washed away, this photograph was taken on the left hand side of the Bow Spring Bridge.

There is also a vast amount of escaped waste from the Toxic Tip, which has become trapped in the trees, bushes and river bank.

This photograph was taken from underneath the Bow Spring Bridge, this time there is much more of the bank sliding towards the river.

You can see waste on both sides of the river Calder, in the bushes and on the river bank.

Concrete Falling Onto Public Footpath.

Loose Concrete And Pipework.

Held Up By Wood And Blue String.

If you look closely at this picture, the corrugated protective sheaf around the cable has separated leaving the cable in a prone and dangerous condition.
